Marching Soldiers

We all are marching soldiers
We all get by somehow
We all want better futures
We all want them right now

so We stand
so We stare
so We laugh out loud
while We’re barely clinging
to the nearest cloud

We will take on every bruising
We will show the whole world Our Pain
We’ll convince them we’re still losing
We will not have fought in vain

and We all make up our stories
and We all take up our stages
and We all write our own laws
across each others’ pages

We will break through every window
We will knock down every door
just to walk straight into the ocean
that has swallowed Us before

but our eyes will stay wide
but our mouths will grin more
though We’re barely breathing
though We’re miles off shore

so We all have Our Story
so We all have Our Name
so We all have Our Glory
so We all have Our Shame
